Hyatt allows for 300 points with a rental car at Avis and others, but you must ask for the points from Avis, not at the hotel.
Does this mean that one can get airline ff miles at Avis AND Gold Passport points, or must one choose one or the other ?
John
Okay, either or...
Still, at 300 points, it would seem that Marriott's offer of 1,000 points is a better bet if you are taking points instead of miles.
John
JGill ~ I think Gabby is talking about the airline bonus from Hyatt that you get for telling them you flew one of their partner airlines at checkin and seperately the rental car bonus of Hyatt GP points from Avis.
I stick to my original post, you get either Hyatt points or ff points. Note that you get 300 Hyatt points per rental still, making them more attractive for shorter rentals.
You must choose one or the other. Until recently you received the 300 Hyatt GP points at Hyatt, so you could get GP points and FF miles, but with the new system you can only get the Hyatt GP I believe. American Airlines Advantage:: An American Airlines Frequent Flyer Program member can purchase up to 40000 mileage points. Members can also earn “miles” from car rentals, http://www.mapsofworld.com/referrals/airlines/airline-frequent-flyer-programs/american-airlines-advantage.htmlHOME |
Note, that I haven't tried this yet, partly because their silly internet reservation system does not have Hyatt as a program, and I'm too lazy to change it at the counter when I rent (I don't like to confuse the often clueless agents ...). Redeem Points Category - Frequent Flyer:: Asia Miles terms and conditions apply. An Account Holder must be a member of the relevant frequent flyer program to redeem Reward Points for frequent flyer http://arv.rewardscard.com.au/public/redeem_category.aspx?deptid=6178HOME | 09/02/96 SORTING OUT THOSE FREQUENT-DRIVER REWARDS:: So he had earned enough points to entertain his kids in a snazzy Mustang frequent-flier miles and credit toward free stays, car rental companies are http://www.businessweek.com/1996/36/b3491118.htmHOME |
I am not sure I understand the above post.
You say that you give your Gold Passport number at time of reservation, then your airline ff number at the rental counter, and you receive BOTH ff miles and Hyatt Gold Passport points?
Also, there are many ff programs that offer double mileage if you enter a code at time of reservation. Can you do this, AND enter the Hyatt point numbers ??
John
They will still give u "300 bonus points" for airlines such as Continental or Delta, but u need to give your FF traveler number at checkin. I always receive this extra 300 points by giving the FFnumber when I do 1800checkin service. Also, you can call AVIS preferred line ahead of rental and give them your Hyatt Number (this is what I do). Never fails, this way I get 1200 bonus Hyatt points a month.
JGill ~ It may seem that way until you consider that Hyatt points are more valuable! A weekend two night stay for instance (which I know off the top of my head for both) is 35,000 points at Marriott and 15,000 points at Hyatt. Obviously the Marriott points may still be slightly more valuable, but this does explain some of the difference!
