  • I heard AC is working on having all business class flights to toronto and new york however not to yyz or lga about twice a day hmm i am guessing something like ACJETZ ..it does make sense tho going after private business jets

  • Probably tired of seeing the AC Jetz product sit around unused for most of the month..

    ?

  • OK OP,what is your source?

An incredulous proposition to say the least,IMO.

  • On SQ the reports are that the cabin is divided into 3 sections. The last section at the back has good reports because it's smaller and the front tends to fill up leaving the back relatively empty. Accordingly this means a very high steward to passenger ration which means that pax in the back get even more of SQ's legendary service lavished upon them.

Judging by the pic, it seems that the AC product is one big cabin. I don't imagine they'd have a lot of people working the flight either. So on AC you might just get a big seat with large pitch in the back of the bus. But maybe I'm completely wrong - perhaps they do staff the Jetz airplane much higher than a standard flight.

Anyway, judging by Andrew's comment (which I found fine BTW), it seems this whole thread is founded upon a rumour. Ergo, everything here is moot.

  • From the title I thought this would be TATL flights, I guess this is not right?

  • You mean you only heard about this rumour now? Wow, this is so passé.

  • Source? If not YYZ, then from where?

Maybe they mean not from Terminal 1 but from the private terminal instead. Still YYZ but not with the unwashed plebes like us. :p

  • Wow. :td:

While I am just as suspect as you with his rumour, bear in mind you represent AC and I find your response quite unprofessional.

Your disdain might be better directed at the OP who has a fairly unreliable track record. With the collapse of the US financial markets there is even less demand for high end capacity between these two cities, and it is doubtful AC or any carrier could make money with such a scheme on this route. AC doesn't have access to Toronto Island airport, nor could it fly a pure jet from there given the runway length and embargo.

  • i am wondering if this will work out for them..it does seem profitable tho

  • i hope this doesn't just turn out to be another rumor ! anyways it seems ideal if AC goes on with this..i am sure they can fill up at least 2 jets a day to both directions..hmmm

  • i heard it from someone who deals with a SE Concierge on a regular basis i am guessing concierge told him

    Highlighted for emphasis.;):)

  • While anything is possible, seems like a bit of contradiction given the recent decision to reconfigure the mainline 320's from 20J > 14J in anticipation of softening demand for business class travel.

Oh c'mon, stop toying with us, tell us more ! Name names !

    hmm haha

  • I'll admit - I had to lookup AC Jetz.

  • Where do you hear these things? Should I get my rumours from you from now on?

    Wow. :td:

  • Not really. There is not enough year-round demand for such a service.

Heck, look at LHR-NYC -- you'd think that there would be ongoing year-round demand for all J service. Well, look at where all those carriers are now.

Thats interesting - I assume it would be available at std J/C/Z pricing?

I can't imagine it playing well without customs pre-clearance, definitely not into LGA.

  • Well, they had been around for a few years before they failed. So surely they would have had enough time to try to make a go at the market.

Fair point on the airport. STN has better links and I think a little closer to the City than LTN is, so you'd think that STN could be made to work.

Actually, I'm on the flip side. I'm not so sure OpenSkies will make it.

  • YYZ-SFO or YYZ-LAX all-business, however, would be very interesting. Seems like there is very regular high demand for seats on those routes.

  • I am guessing city center or they might just end up in YYZ

  • Sitting the back of any aircraft whether it's a J or Y seat would not be my definition of business *class*.

ON SQ new ALL business class JUNKER A345 JFK-SIN the people seem to think the best business class seats are the last rows:eek: I think that flight is 19 hrs

  • hmmm haha

  • I think I'm simply trying to imply that's the first time I've heard of this.............

Totally understandable. I guess a simple "and your source is...?" put to the OP would clear this up pretty quick. ;)

Andrew: beware of junior board agitators who may start bogus threads.

    Fee Fi Fo Fum...

I don't think the services you refer to failed because of lack of demand. They failed (IMO) because they didn't manage to pull enough of the substantial business on those routes from the legacy carriers. When it came down to it, few businesses moved from BA/AA/VS, and other people were reluctant to jump ship to airlines they'd never heard of. If they'd lasted a bit longer and managed to establish themselves as serious competitors, it might all have been different, but alas, due to the extremely challenging market conditions, it didn't happen.

I should also point out for the purpose of accuracy that none of the three recently-bankrupt all-biz transatlantic carriers flew from LHR, they flew from STN (Eos / Maxjet) or LTN (Silverjet)... which didn't help them either, but the business model wouldn't have worked from LHR.

I think OpenSkies, which is owned by BA and flies all-premium (business / premium economy) from Paris / Amsterdam to JFK will probably fare better.

  • Given the short distance, this rumour does not even make good business sense.

YTZ? All Business Class prop flights? I doubt it.
