I (age 14) would like to do an internship for a non-profit,small business,or museum in Summer '09 in NY?
Any recommendations for places to consider?
I would prefer a paid internship.

I am sure you would prefer to be paid. But most nonprofits depend on (unpaid) volunteers to do a lot of the work, and volunteers are relatively easy to find . To your benefit, they will take volunteers of all ages, so your age should not be a problem. Since you have some time before summer 09, i suggest that you find organizations that work in a field in which you have a specific interest in helping, and check their websites to see if they are looking for interns or volunteers. Even if they don't specifically ask for help, you can contact them and offer your services.

Better yet, check with your school - many have affiliations with nonprofits and may be able to find you a placement, possibly a paid internship. The experience you gain will be invaluable to you as you get older and are looking for a job 'for real'.
It's highly unlikely that you'd find a paid internship - if they are offering paid internships they'd almost surely go to college students.
But if you want to volunteer, they might accept you. Ask at the places you are interested in.
