| | My employer is offering a senior promotion quite a few of us are interested in. We have no application form and no interview. The promotion will be awarded after all the senior managers have written their references saying what they think of us ( we can read these but not change them!)
It seems I have no chance of saying in person or writing why I could be good for this job and it seems there is no fairness - the boss will read the references then award the job. Is this legal? Absolutely legal.
Yeah I think it is. It sounds like normal practice to be honest.
Most promotions would be based on how good you have been doing your job. It also depends on whether the senior managers think who would be the most capable person for the promotion.
