I work in a small company at the moment and am very close to my boss - she is very good to me and would bend over backwards for me ......... I have a job interview next Friday and know that no one is in next friday if I call in sick she will be quite annoyed. Rate your boss!:: I shall be leaving soon of my own volition or not. Never lie! Imagine what would happen if you call in sick, and you'd bump into a colleague. What would he/she on the Monday after if she figures out that you'd called in sick?

Seriously, NEVER let your boss know that you are looking for another job. If you don't get it, this will do you so much harm in the long run. The boss will feel that you have gone behind her back. You'll be seen as someone who is not committed to the company, and as someone who would rather run away than address problems. If you don't get the job, you don't know how long you may have to stay in your current job since jobs are few and far between at the moment. So you'll have created a situation of mistrust and just general bad feelings, and you won't be able to get away from it. I mean, fingers crossed you will get the job, but you do need to think about the worst that could happen.
If the job interview is at the beginning of the day, perhaps you could make up an excuse to do with train delays / oversleeping / whatever and go into work after the interview. Otherwise, yes, I would just ring in sick for the whole day.
No offense but screw your boss, its a dog eat dog world i know from first hand experience "good workmates" would shaft you given half a chance. Let her be annoyed, let her be irate. Its a simple fact of life there is no such thing as the perfect job. Its none of her business if you want to leave. You take what ever action you deem fit, but always cover your back. And good luck with your interview.
It's better to ring in sick, than her knowing that you are looking for a job somewhere else
tell her maybe she will realise it is time for you to move on if your friendship is close enough she will be ok with it
Be honest with her - she will appreciate that more than being deceitful
I would like to ask about my feature(children) and financial matter ?
Any Cracker Barrel workers who can answer...? best answer 10 pts.?
