How do I find a list of real estate brokerage companies in North
America with the largest amount of website hits? I am interested in
real estate companies who get over 10,000 hits/week.
Kima,
I'm adding some additional information here. I'm not entirely certain
which sites you actually consider real estate companies, and which you
do not want on the lists, so I've left the lists below pretty much
intact as I've found them.
From this site:
http://www.realestateabc.com/traffic/index.htm
There is a long list of the "Most Trafficked Sites" along with some
data to justify their rankings. I've listed just the top 9 companies
from the larger list:
realtor.com
homestore.com
homegain.com
homes.com
remax.com
reals.com
century21.com
coldwellbanker.com
inman.com
The same site also has a link of the top real estates web sites from
Canadian companies. They list the Top 100, but I've reproduced just
the top 10 here:
http://realestateabc.com/top100/top100.asp?Cat=4
1 www.select-plan.com - Toronto, ON
2 www.forsalebyownercanada.com - Canada For Sale by Owner
3 www.propertytoronto.com - Toronto, ON
4 www.torontorealestate.ca - Toronto, ON
5 www.realestateguy.ca - St. Catharines, ON
6 www.kingstonhouses.com - Kingston, ON

8 www.torestate.com - Toronto, ON
9 www.bc-realty.com - British Columbia - BC Realty.com
10 www.condoplace.com - Vancouver, BC -
I hope this is what you need, BUT DON'T GIVE UP! If you'd like any
additional information, just ask for it through another clarification

Perfect! Thank you very much - that is exactly what I was looking for!
Thank you, this is helpful but most of the ones you listed are not
real estate brokerage companies - for example realtor.com and
homestore.com both belong to the National Association of Realtors. I
am looking for hits for individual real estate brokerage firms -like
Royal Lepage on St. Clair in Toronto.
Hello Kima, and thanks for your question.
When I'm looking for internet deomgraphics, one of my first stops is
always:
www.nielsen-netrating.com
and sure enough, a search on their site under "real estate" led me to
an August 16, 2002 press release: "TRAFFIC JUMPS AT REAL ESTATE WEB
SITES, AS MORTGAGE RATES REACH RECORD LOWS, ACCORDING TO
NIELSEN//NETRATINGS". The full press release is at:
http://www.nielsen-netratings.com/pr/pr_020816.pdf
but here are some of the salient data:
Realtor.com 939,000 unique visitors/week
MSN HomeAdvisor 705,000
Homestore.com 674,000
Century211.com 153,000
A somewhat different perspective of who's in the lead can be found at:
http://realtytimes.com/rtnews/nlpages/20010417_titans.htm?opendocument&Vol=49&ID=sampleplus
which cites monthly visits according to a March 2002 Media Metrix
report:
"The Media Metrix numbers for March showed that HomeAdvisor had 3.6
million unique visitors during the month, followed by Realtor.com (3.3
million), the HomeStore sites (3.25 million), the Springstreet sites
(1.85 million) and HomeGain. (1.1 million)."
Another Media Metrix report at:
http://www.comscore.com/news/csmmx_july_top50_081902.htm
lists the following monthly hits:
"Remax.com with 750,000 visitors, up 83 percent versus the prior
month; Apartment Guide Network with 883,000 visitors, up 57 percent;
and House-hunting.com with 428,000 visitors, up 87 percent."
So apparently, this is rapidly shifting territory, with sites showing
up and disappearing on the "Top Sites" real estate lists depending on
who's counting, and when the data are collected. But certainly, most
of the big ticket real estate sites are included here.
I hope this gives you the information you need. As always, I strive
to give the best answers possible, but if you feel additional
information is needed, please post a "Request for Clarification"
