not at all jack dempsys get to 8 inches and grow fast and would eat the tiger barbs. i don't know much about red devils and i have a convict cichlid 3 inches and killed a 6 inch green terror. peg4cda Questions and Answers - Yahoo!Xtra Answers::

thats a joke. only one of the three cichlids will survive. all those cichlids you want are incredibly aggressive and will end up killing each other. P.S. stop going to pet smart and go to a reputable aquarium store that focuses ONLY on fish, not other furry animals and pet foods Aquarium Fish Tank::

Please never EVER listen to anything some guy in the petstore tells you. Most of them know nothing about fish and will sell you anything just to get your money.
What he suggests will end in disaster. One Jack Dempsey, all by itself might be okay in the 55 gal. Do not add any of the others.
The pleco can grow 2 feet long and convicts are one of the most aggressive cichilds. In spite of their smaller size they will attack fish as big as Oscars and often remove their eyes.
