| | What business does a christian have celebrating christmas, since the bible gives no date for christ's birth? Christmas as we know it, is an old pagan holiday.
Northern Europe was the last part to "Christianize" (meaning forced and beaten) and its pagan celebrations had a major influence on Christmas.
So why celebrate it after christians slaughtered and burned most of the pagan people.
the pagans didnt celebrate Christs bday soo its not a pagan holiday that we celebrate its Christ that we celebrate...in order to celebrate a pagan holiday would be to be like a pagan and do their man made rituals...but as you clearly stated you see where it got them pagans....God bless
We (Jehovah's Witnesses) don't celebrate holidays as they were not taught or done by Christians in the Bible.
Also, JWs do not war or kill others or harm them. Micah 4:1-5, 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, Romans 12:19-21.

Christmas is all about presents, santa clause, and commercialization. What world are you living in.
This is why no Jehovah's Witnesses celebrates any of them. The only thing we do celebrate is Anniversary's and our most wonderful, Memorial.

The only people celebrating the birth of Christ are Christians. Just because a holiday might share dates and even a few traditions doesn't mean they are the same holy Tide by a long stretch.
Just because a Christian celebrates Christmas at Yule doesn't make them pagan. Just because I go to Christmas Even service with my dad doesn't make me Christian.

Be careful about asking this question a Wiccan friend of mine has received violations for asking similar questions. Most Christians do not realize the Christian holidays are pagan and those that do have sometimes answered with" so what, it was but we took it over so get over it". Really, I have seen answers like this.
Bottom line is they have been raised to believe these holidays are Christian and they enjoy them so don't expect to open any eyes here. What it comes down to is if they are doing something to upset their God it is up to them to figure it out and if their God does not mind then why should we care?
Why should we care anyway They honor our gods when celebrating our holidays.
It does not bother me that they celebrate our holidays but I find it odd when they claim they want to put Christ back in Christmas. When I was a Christian our preacher would say that Jesus wants no part of that pagan celebration, but not all churches preach the bible.

As a former Christian who studied the bible and studied the persecutions of Christians by pagans the great tribulations mentioned in Revelation which was to soon come to pass did so shortly after John wrote it and the Romans tried to wipe out all Christians and failed. Societies are not stagnant.
I don't celebrate pagan holidays.
I celebrate Christmas as the birth of Jesus....I don't celebrate Winter Solstice....I don't care if the dates coincide.
Perhaps many 'Christians' world wide have not realized that Christ's birthday is probably during the Feast of booths(tabernacles).
Synonym; for booths; Manger.
That may also be part of why there was no room in the inn. Further, sheperds might be outside then (this year,mid October)!!!

this was already answered as well. Christmas as *we* know it is not only *not* an old pagan holiday, it was (historically) rarely celebrated by pagans as it is by Christians - that is, as the birth of Christ.

Ummm...."Christianized" does *not* mean "forced and beaten". As for pagan influence on Christian holidays - well, certainly there is, and that is a "whole 'nother" thing - obviously. Guess what? Christmas varies from culture to culture. Once again, the bible verses provided allow for this - very clearly.

We don't. Foolish pagan holidays were "Christianized." Foolish false beliefs were replaced with truth.
Even though pagan Rome boiled Christians in oil, fed us to lions, burned us as human torches and crucified us, Christianity survived while the false pagan religions that worshiped Zeus and Thor died.
