Welcome to:zjrp.com

  • I'm trying to upgrade from a 12/11/2005 build of XBMC to 2.0.1. I have tried both XBMC-2.0.1-FINAL-FAT-T3CH.rar and XBMC-2.0.1-FINAL-SLIM-T3CH.rar. Using either of these, XBMC refuses to load and will just freeze on startup. This happens whether I use XBMC as an application or a dashboard.

My Xbox is hard-modded, using X2 4977 BIOS.

  • enable debugging by holding X+Y while xbmc loads, then repost the log file. (if you dont see any "DEBUG" lines in the log file, its not a debug log, so try again.)

  • You may want to read this: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=522783

You probably just went over the limit when installing the new version.

I don't know how to check cluster size.

  • I managed to get it working. Reflashing my BIOS to 4981 seems to have resolved all of the issues. Not seeing any corruption issues on my F drive yet, but I'll still try and repartition that when I get a chance.

    Thanks for all the help!

  • But it is trying to mount your F drive which is probably corrupted. Has little to do with where XBMC is located.

  • it's really easy to "check": How did you format it? If you used Xbpartitioner then it should be ok. If you used ANYTHING else it will have to be reformatted. Trust me, I have installed a bunch of 300-to-500GB drives (including the 500GB in my own system), and when I first started I did testing to ensure my understanding of the process was correct. XBParitioner automatically picks the correct cluster size when you tell it to make a partition larger than 256 GB

  • How big is your Hard Drive? If it is relatively big, you need 32k cluster size I think or your drive will get corrupted.

My drive is 400GB. How do I know what it's cluster size is set at? I originally initialized it using NewHD EvoX. The drive didn't have any problems with older versions of XBMC, EvoX, Avalaunch, etc. Is XBMC 2.0 more sensitive to this?

  • Here is the log with Debug on. There are no "DEBUG" lines, but it distinctly says that debugging is enabled in the log. Any ideas on what's going on?

  • I booted it into the Emergency Recovery mode with White+Y. Oddly enough I only see drives C,D,E, and Q. My F drive isn't showing up in this new version of XBMC. Could this be related?

I have my F drive set to take up all of my remaining space, which worked properly with the old version of XBMC.

  • This cluster size thing definitely sounds like it is an issue, but I'm not sure it's the issue I'm encountering here. Unlike the guy in the link that tslayer posted, I'm not having any problems copying files onto the drive. The only problem I'm seeing is that XBMC2.0 doesn't want to load. Clearing additional space on the drive and retransferring doesn't seem to help either.

Nevertheless, I'll see if I can't scrounge up enough external hard drive space to copy all my stuff off and repartitition it.

  • I haven't had a chance to try repartitioning my xbox yet, but I did try something else. I installed XBMC2 onto my /E/ drive, which should not be affected by this partitioning issue that all of you are speculating is the cause of my problems. However, the system dies in the exact same way with the exact same log comments even with all the files on my /E/ drive.
