I have seen it many times here in R&S, that there is a documented link between; belief in God (or gods) and lower intelligence/common sense. Can I get some links to this research or is this just more bollocks.

Obviously being an atheist doesn't mean you are intelligent, just as being religious does not mean you are dumb. There is simply a trend that shows atheists as having, in general, higher IQ's than the religious.
I'm not sure how you would measure "common sense", so I can't find any sources for that statement.
Sure. It's right next to the phrenology research, and the research that shows that skin color correlates to intelligence.
first of all the research you claim that exists is biased.
for in times past the best educated people were often the righteous leaders of religious sects.
and quite often the best teachers and dignitaries in todays relgious groups are highly educated. many pastors fulfill doctorates and phd's. some might be ignorant of divine revelation, but the same thing can be said of those that are athesists.
