Can you be sacked from work if you hand in a sick note?
can you be sacked if you are ill and hand in a sick note from your doctor for 2 weeks the company I work for are short staffed I asked for a weeks holiday because I wasn't well they said no I went to the doctors and they signed me off for 2 weeks do I hand in the sick note or not I am not pulling a sickie I am genuinely unwell and worried about keeping my job I work in the uk for a well known tyre fitting company who are not above bullying tactics threaten you with dismissal for anything they don't like.
It doesn't look good that you went sick because you couldn't have holiday.
Your company will have disciplinary procedures.
You could get a warning for not following rules or contract.
Dismissal for a first offence seems a bit severe.

If however an employer acts in a way which breaches employment law there will be a price to pay at employment tribunal if the individual has the right to bring a case.
In the circumstances that you describe then if they if they dismiss you they run very serious risks at employment tribunal, assuming you have the right to bring one [ie + one years service or discrimination allegation etc]..
Think UK Dad has it right . I know lots of people who went sick if they couldn't have holiday when they wanted it. But do hand in your sick note. You won't have a leg to stand on if you don't! I also agree with the person who said it's not a company I would like to work for if they sack you for being poorly!

No you cannot... You must give them the sick note though. An employer cannot by law go against a Medical note..
You should leave that employment. They are no good and you should respect yourself more than to work for a company that treats their staff with such contempt..
legally they cannot sack you but it doesn't mean they wont, i work for a large well known company where people have been sacked although they have presented a sick note, the line taken by the management is- take us to court. good luck
