In other words, are you Calvinistic in your theology. Why or why not?
"Reformed" truth generally means untruth.
My Theology is the written word of God...not any man's ideas.
Man is flawed in his reasoning. God word is pure and flawless.
Jeff is right there are predestined people, they are called God's elect. They earned their place as God's elect when they faithfully fought Satan in our first life. But there is no one that was/ is predestined for destruction. Even Satan was not predestined for destruction until He led a third of the angels against God. Bad move. God's word does not need reforming . He said what He means and He means what He says.
I'm not sure that I would limit reformed theology to Calvinism... However, no, I am not a Calvinist.
I think too often we fight over this issue, when it is not an issue that compromises the Gospel. I can talk to some of my friends quite peacefully about our different views about it, and I enjoy it a lot. However if someone is going to argue and stir up contention, I would rather be silent than compromise the relationship. I think two believers fighting over secondary doctrine is more harm to the gospel, than someone's view on election.
Don't get me wrong there are issues to protect, guard, and fight over. But as long as Jesus is kept central, God is getting the glory, and the gospel is not compromised, lets talk. Also you should know I am not an Armenian.
Check out the book "Beyond Calvinism and Arminianism" by C. Gordon Olson.
No. Calvinism is wrong. Arminianism is wrong too.
Both teach a false gospel of works, one saying you need works to "prove" you were saved, the other saying you need works to "remain" saved.
So both are wrong, because works cannot be added to salvation, otherwise you have a false gospel of works that cannot save anyone (Galatians 1:6-9).
The truth is that Jesus saves freely, a free gift without our works (John 3:16, Ephesians 2:8-9).
no I dont believe in predestination.....we have free will..
Here in Moscow i work as a stevedore trying to help my daughter in USA.
I am a Free-Calminianist. I am generally Calvinistic in my belief but not fully. One part I disagree with is limited atonement. I disagree based on my understanding & interpretation of the greek word kosmos in John 3:16.
Also, I know many are elect for salvation, but don't believe that there are some who are elect for destruction.
Reformed Theology is backed by Scripture all the way. Hyper Calvinism (ie Double Predestination) is UN-BIBLICAL!!!
EDIT: Reformed Theology does NOT teach that one must do works to continue to be saved ( TULIP(Perserverance of the saints)) says that once you are saved there is NOTHING that can revoke that.
Where was the last debate on wednesday with Mccain and Obama?
