how much do you think a great condition 97 cr125 coast?
great as in mint condition? whatever you are willing to pay. As a toy id give 800-1500 for it. its a 97 and craigslist has got them all day.
The last year of the 6 speed transmission then Honda went to a 5 speed. Great condition with some good aftermarket goodies installed could go as high of $2000. Even saw one advertised for $2900, do not know if it ever sold. I would expect a well cared for machine, suspension work, and some engine mods at that price. Most bikes I think you will find in the $1100 to $1500 range. When you first talk to the seller find out reason for selling bike. How many people have actually come to look at it. Here you find out info like if he is needing some money in a big hurry, if they are buying or bought another bike or just clearing more room in garage. If seller is needing the money in a hurry you should be able to negotiate in your favor. If many people have come to look at it and it's not sold, there might be a reason.
Through out a low offer, but not so low you insult them. The response is what your after. If there is a long pause and thinks about it for second, good news for you. Make an appointment to see the bike. When viewing the bike point out small things you like, for example, nice grips, you like the brand of pipe, and tires they have. Between each mention of the things you like, point out large items that are needing attention. Tires would be first item I would bring up if heavily worn. The chain and sprockets, wheel bearing, swing arm bearings, suspension working correctly and not springy, exhaust have large dents in it, seat torn, spokes tight, rims have any major damage, steering head bearings smooth and not notchy or loose. Bring a compression gauge make sure min 135lbs or going need to rebuild top end or replace reeds. Engine should be between 165 - 180 lbs. Hope my two cents help you out.
