i have a tattoo on my hip, one on my ankle, and one on my shoulder...all tattoos hurt in the beginning, but as they progress the area numbs and it doesn't hurt as much. however, i've come to realize that the less fat on the area will cause it to hurt a little more...since the wrist has very little fat and the bones/nerves are right on the surface i've heard that they hurt more than say a tattoo would on the shoulder or something...however all 3 of my tattoos are partially or completely on bony areas and they hurt but it wasn't bad and i clearly had no problem getting more after the first one...i'd say go for it...they aren't bad...good luck!

I have a tattoo on my left (inner) wrist and my lower back. I have a high pain threshold and the tattoo on my back, which is smaller than my wrist tattoo, hurt slightly more. I had my lower back tat done first and my wrist last week. I was a little worried about getting my wrist done but it was a breeze.
I have tattoos everywhere- one that wraps around 1/2 of my torso and goes armpit to mid thigh, collar bones, stomach, ankle, neck, wrist- The wrist wasn't really bad at all- the hardest part was holding my always fidgety hand still and there was a short sting when it went over the little bone in the middle- it is on the underside of the wrist- if you were going to do the upper side- i would imagine over the knuckle may be a little painful

A wrist tattoo is going to hurt more then places such as your thighs, your buttocks, your stomach, your upper arm etc. all because there is many nerves situated in the wrist and unlike those other spots I mentioned the wrist doesn't exactly have a huge amount of fat on it. It will not hurt more then getting a tattoo on your ribcage, ankle, knuckle area, knee etc. because all of those places have little or not fat/muscle covering the bone.
I have a tat on my wrist and yes it hurt, but only for five minutes, i got used to the sensation after that. It will always be different for everyone though. Waxing my bikini line hurt more then my wrist tattoo just to give you an idea.

I've heard the neck and wrist are places to avoid, due to toxicity and closness to nerves- vessels.
So I've never done it there.
When i went to get my tattoo on the top of my foot the guy said that thats the place the hurts the worse.

I didnt think it was that bad. More uncomfortable, because he was holding my arm, which goes against your natural reaction to pull your arm BACK to you when something hurts. I got a little squirmy, but nothing too bad. The actual tattoo didnt hurt.
yes because some areas have less layers of skin and can cause more pain. for example, a tatoo on the foot would cause more pain because the tatoo artist does not have many layers of fat to tatoo on... on a different area, such as the belly, it would not hurt as much becaue more fat is covering the area

I have one on my right wrist, the only part of it that hurt was at the bend where there is more bone showing. I would say its prolly a 7 on a scale of 10 for pain as far as how I would rate it. It wasnt pleasant on that part of the wrist. If your use to tattoos then you might be able to tolerate it a little better knowing what your up for.
