  • You are WAY over stocked. When you are dealing with aquariums of 10 gallons you must take into consideration the inches of fish per gallon. These appear to be comets, which bends this rule quite a bit. But really, with a tank that small, anyone who says that when it comes to these goldfish, they are sadly mistaken.

Thanks for all the help. <Please do use capital letters in your message next time. Ive had the two goldfish long enough now that I assume they would have grown,

All the fish in your tank- they are probably becoming very stressed form lack of room, abundance in waste, and so forth. Its good that you are now cleaning but I dont see that it will do much good.

Comets cant live in this tank at all, and if they are fancy goldfish, ther should only be one per 10 gallons

  • well it is chlorine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • don't listen to connor k about that 1 inch crap.

  • 1" of adult fish per gallon is crap... but you ARE way overstocked.

even the smallest type of goldfsh (please note I mean full size. small fish = young fish. you are not born your adult size and neither are fish) grows between 6" and 10" and needs 10gallons EACH. these are the "fancy" goldifsh however, they have round bodies and are more pricey so I doubt you have them.

more likely, you have 10 commons or comets, these fish get between 12" and 18" and need a bare minimum of 30g for the first one and 20gallons for every fish after that.

do a 50% water change today and one tomorrow using a GRAVEL VACUUM or a SIPHON. and do 25% everyday after that until you can find them a new home.

PLEASE find them a new home. these fish will not live long in that tank. once they're gone I suggest getting a heater and buying some small tropical community fish. please do research BEFORE you get any animal. they may be "just fish" but they still feel the pain of improper care.

  • Did you wait until the water that the fish were in while you were clean got to the same temperature as the water in the tank? If you didn't it is possible that the sudden change is temp. caused it.

  • Might as well go ahead and throw some hot sauce and tarter sauce in that water. them fish are ready to be fried.

  • Firstly you cleaned the entire tank? Not the best choice here. Your tank needs to keep a cycle, the ammonia, nitrites and nitrates Here you can read more:

    http://freshaquarium.about.com/cs/biolog...

This cycle produces beneficial bacteria that keep the waste from your fish from killing them in a tank. Weekly water changes of 25% with cleaning are needed. With this many fish in a 10 gallon, waste is the enemy. Removing too much water at one time forces the tank to recycle causing ammonia spikes. have you tested your water for ammonia and nitrites? Chances are you need only a partial change here. Youreally need to test the water.

  • overcrowding is a big problem in your tank and there might be too much chlorine or ammonia in the tank also

  • must be the chlorine in your water
