I am looking into getting a new tripod and head for taking macro photos of my reef corals and I need very fine and precise movements, to get what I want into focus...I know the Bogen Manfrotto 3275 410 Geared Head (http://www.adorama.com/Refby.tpl?refby=rflAID021866&sku=BG3275) is suppose to be very good, but I was hoping to find something that would yield the same results for a cheaper price. If anyone has any suggestions that would be great!!!!

I like the bogan 3047 with quick change hex plates. I like it so well, a few months ago I bought a second one. They run about $80.00 U.S.

It isn't real light, but I love it, and it works great for me.
IMO if you want the geared movement for focusing then you might be better of looking at one of these instead of a geared head. Geared heads are great for accurate adjustments to the pan or tilt but don't do anything for focusing distance. A macro rail does allow for fine focusing adjustments.

They look pretty good...Do they do very minute and precise adjustments? Like I said this is for macro work and manual focusing on small things, so it needs to adjust in minute movements...I really appreciate your help.
