HD For Indies:: I have 2 G4s, 3 G5s, an Octo Mac (1st gen, not the newbies), and a write up in the mid-90 MB/sec - a year or so ago, the faster drives were good for maybe http://www.hdforindies.com/labels/hardware.htmlHOME | All she wants to do is print out 4x6 photos for her scrapbook... Would 1.3 MP be okay for this??? If not, would 3 MP be sufficient?
Just okay only !
4x6 photos at 300dpi (the usually printing resolution) are (4x300) x (6x300) = 2160000 pixels or 2.16mp. Anything above that will be fine for printing 4x6s. However, keep in mind that cropping photos reduces the resolution so if you're planning on doing this you might want a few more mps.

3 M.P. would be fine she would get quite good quality photos for printing , you would get more photos on your s.d card too because the photo would not have so much detail as a larger M.P camera {files are smaller)
Absolutely. You may be able to find any four megapixel camera for under $50 with many more features.
3Mp is the minimum if you want to print 4R photos (4x6)
