I think the God delusion is more a product of the ratio of fear to intelligence. So, a highly intelligent person with huge fear could be a theist, while a dimwit with no fear could be an atheist.
No. Sorry, but you're still in the minority.
No, religion is alive and well in the world.
Among Atheists, yes. Among Theists/Deists/Fideists, no.
Yes,people are scared of unknown.People believe that if they do not believe in gods/goddess their children/grand-children have to pay
for not believing in them. They are scared of deaths in the family.
Not among Christians.
yes
that doesn't make sense who would be afraid of a God with no evidence? 3.5 Billion people say there is a God, BattlestarGalactica.com : 'Cast Members Talk About Their Roles':: She's just so alone and scared and confused, and she's got this vulnerability The general consensus is that [Starbuck and Apollo] love each other. among atheists yes :)
There is no "general consensus" about anything related to religion - as you'll find by looking at any question in this section.
Ironically, your question is probably the most likely to get the same answer from theists, atheists and agnostics
However each of us chooses to perceive God, whether he is, or whether he is not... that perception is individual reality.
Religion, however, is the illusion pulled over everyone's eyes to shield them from the truth.
I think for a lot of people, that's probably true. But I also think it has a lot to do with tradition. Most religious people (not all, but an overwhelming majority) are Christian/Muslim/Jewish/etc... because that's how they were brought up. When something is drilled into a person's head from infancy, it takes a lot to dislodge it. Unfortunately, most religious people never step back and examine their religions logically and analytically. They automatically dismiss scientific evidence as either errant or the deceiving work of the devil. I was the same way until a few years ago. It didn't really have anything to do with being afraid of what might happen when I die. I was just ignorant of the facts, and I chose to stay that way for a long time rather than question what my parents and religious leaders told me. That's my take on it.

It's all about fear and control
Imaginary is Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny, even young children quickly learn the truth about these beloved characters. God on the other hand is very real and present in His creation whether you choose to believe it or not.
Albert Einstein said the following:
"I'm not an atheist and I don't think I can call myself a pantheist. We are in the position of a little child entering a huge library filled with books in many languages. The child knows someone must have written those books. It does not know how. It does not understand the languages in which they are written. The child dimly suspects a mysterious order in the arrangements of the books, but doesn't know what it is. That, it seems to me, is the attitude of even the most intelligent human being toward God."
God is real.
Jesus is love.
Far from it. There are more believers than non-believers, including many of the world's top thinkers.
