Is there anything scarier than an overflowing toilet?

  • Especially when you're the one that caused the overflow.

  • Yes. Being seated on it when it overflows.

For some reason, some people do flush the toilet while they are still seated on it. They certainly have more guts than I do. I just could not do that. All my survival instincts warn me against it.

  • That's pretty scary.
The anxiety that builds as the water reaches the top rim is the worst, especially when you know there is still enough water left in the tank to push it over the edge, and it finally spills over. Hopefully no one lives below you!

  • When the Golden Retriever was a puppy she ate through the sheetrock, chewed and exposed the wiring, on the second occasion, didn't lock the parrot's cage and he did the same, but at a faster rate than the dog. I am happy that house wiring is insulated well.

Not knowing that I hit the cold water valve under the kitchen sink, when I put an item away, left for a few hours, returning later, I cried because the water was everywhere, about 2-3".

  • This ? has me ROFLMAO. My best girl friend just arrived at her home for Thanksgiving. She has been living back here due to intense Chemo treatments to be closer to her family. Long story short. 3 days after arriving at her beloved home and sleeping in her own bed for the first time in over 6 months, one of her toilets blows up!
At our house my kids go into screaming mode....MOM COME QUICK! There is a a trusty plunger located in both bathrooms and I taught them how to use it. I guess they just want me for moral support.
    Great question PAD.

  • Only thing scarier would be a question that will elicit worse answers than yours did. For some reason I had to read them all. I guess that I am a member of this club. Perhaps misery does indeed love company.

  • I totally agree. I overflowed on in a condo in Florida once. I was so embarrassed!

  • An overflowing toilet on Christmas Eve with guests on their way over for dinner would rank several notches higher, I think. I had that happen one year. Fortunately, a linen closet full of towels saved the day. I spent a lot of Christmas Day washing towels, though.

  • How about a snake coming out of the toilet...while someone is on it. This actually did happen several years ago in Florida...honest.

  • yep an outside outlet that is even lower and where all things come to pass........just a really old plumbing system---over 100 and a lot of trees that have stuffed up the drains ------a plumbers snake does the trick. You used to be able to hire them and certainly cheaper than a plumber. Now you can only hire a smaller snake to clear gutters so perhaps need to call plumber....sorry am a handy person always looking for solutions no time to stop and smell the roses sort of......

  • Yes, an overflowing toilet in a basement filled with water.
  • I Am The Mill: June 2008::
city; i.e., an overflowing sewer spewing murky water over a pile of old sneakers Scandinavian design â “ Id have to say the avian flu is the scarier of the two.

  • Nothing, not even the prospect of higher taxes. An overflowing toilet evokes primal images of a large unstoppable predator about to enter your lair and devour you. ...sends shivers down my spine just thinking about it.

  • I can think of several things scarier. But that one is one of the top 5.

  • Something scarier than an overflowing toilet is two overflowing toilets. ~LOL~

  • Yep, knowing you have to clean up the mess and if you are on 2nd floor it is probably leaking thru the ceiling! MAINTENanCE!!

  • Oh yes: an overflowing toilet in some restaurant, almost next to the dining section.
It will look odd when people see what you did.

  • It's not the scariest but it's the most annoying, especially at three in the morning.

  • I came home from work one day, and when I turned on the kitchen light, I saw that there was brownish liquid in the large plastic bubble that covers the florescent overhead fixture. I figured that there was a pipe burst in the ceiling. I climbed up on the counter and removed the fixture, spilling its contents all over myself and the kitchen. All I could see was a drip. My husband and daughter came home while I was up there, and both said, EWWWWWWW!

It seems that my then 8 year-old had clogged her toilet that morning and by the time she noticed it, her entire bathroom floor had an inch of potty water in it. Evidently, while everybody was at work, whatever water they didn't clean up ended up going through the floor into the kitchen fixture. Needless to say, I bathed immediately, and she and my husband went to work disinfecting the kitchen.

  • Probably the most terrifying thing there is. Its usually my own fault though coz i have such a colossal butt crack it takes nearly half a roll each wipe.

  • hahahahahaha, My brother must agree with you!
He wasted no time, spent $3,050. to replace the sewer lines at my mom's house when he was on the receiving end of the back-up.

  • a sudden onslaught of diarrhea while grocery shopping.Never happened but came close.

  • WELL.... LET'S SEE NOW....

    YEP.... JUST ONE THING....
HAVING AN OVERFLOWING TOILET.... WHEN YOU
HAVE FORGOTTEN WHERE YOU PUT YOUR PLUNGER!!!

  • Yes...Look what came to visit me right after Halloween!

  • Yes! It's a neighbor in the apartment next to yours who overflows his toilet, let's the water travel the floor under the wall and floods you out without saying anything or getting help for the problem.

  • Ahhahahaha the strangers wow!! yeah she screamed like hell in that movie.. but shitting yourself in the woods is scary..at night...when the whole floor that your on is actually a lake with thin ice and u had no idea until u hear a crack.

  • I know what you mean, my 20 year old cousin is afraid of that same thing, she flushes it then tries to hurry out because she is scared it might overflow. I just laugh at her.

  • Yes, returning home to a flooded house due to a burst water pipe. At least with the overflowing toilet I'm likely to be there and can shut off the valve to prevent it from overflowing too much.

  • When your kid comes walking casually out of the bathroom and says it's overflowing and by the time you get in there 3" of water is on the floor and draining into the basement......

  • Ronald McDonald's *shivers* 8(

  • An overflowing toilet is a terrible terrible thing. It can strike fear into the hearts of the strongest men and make any woman cry.

  • Yes.

I've got my toilet trained. If it starts to overflow, all I have to do is usually just SHOW it my plunger in hand, and it goes down again. "Sorry-sorry-sorry-sorry-sorry! <:O" it says.

  • No, especially when your at somebody else's house!!!
