my mom said she would buy me the nikon s60 touch camera but i also like the sony t77 cybershot...which one is a better pick?
i'am 17..im not a photographer or nothing just wanna take great pics and videos
if you are just interested in taking great pics and video.... why are you paying at least a third of the cost of the camera to a feature that has absolutely nothing to do with those top priorities?! i have advised a lot of people to avoid the temptation to buy a camera with a "touchscreen". its the cool new "feature" that has worked its way from ipods and cellphones...and now cameras. while they have very practical places on those other devices... on a camera it can be a big deterrent. A big part of catching "the moment" is a camera you can adjust the settings quickly and grab the shot. all too often these touchscreens have no buttons other than shutter...and you have to dig through menu after menu just to change a simple setting. this time wasted could mean getting the shot and missing it. secondly... battery life...that big screen and the time spent navigating along with framing pictures has a HUGE drain on how short the battery last compared to a camera with a simple LCD or the same size and a viewfinder. what good is a camera if the battery is dead half-way through an outing? two others side-effects, they are hard to see in bright sunlight...and since they dont have a viewfinder...what good is a camera if you cant see what you taking? also many have buyer's remorse from the constant fingerprints and smudges on the screen...surely to distract you when framing a shot or reviewing pics afterwards. if you are still sold on this gimmicky feature...i would go with the nikon... solid performance and it uses the standardized SD card format...and sony uses its sony-only proprietary memorystick...which limits your choices should you upgrade latter and want to use your same media card(s).
