I've got a new motorbike battery but im confused atm , when attatchin the battery to my bike do i connect positive first then negative or ? Statistics Question:: Jul 13, 2006 Clearly, this first question asks about a one-tailed test. . than the positive critical z-score, nor lower than the negative critical http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview/id/745959.htmlHOME |
I always connect the neg first, i feel i'm competant enough not to touch the live terminal to the frame etc! also help's to see if there's a circuit draining the battery when the ignitions off , because if u connect the pos last and it sparks then theres an open circuit somewhere ..
a usefull tip is to cover the poles in petroleum jelly (vaseline) after installation as it stops the terminals from furring up and corroding
Just to add something on arcing, certain types of batteries vent gasses that will ignite. Most batteries now are sealed, but if you've ever seen a battery blow up, you don't forget it. Same rules go for jumper cables. The impact of CMV in the first trimester of pregnancy:: May 29, 2006 CMV isolation or positive nucleic acid test results from amniotic but not necessarily morbidity, while negative results indicate that http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview/id/733253.htmlHOME |
positive on first negative off first, nothing like a spark to set off a battery thats freegassing BOOM!
+
connect the positive first this way if you happen to touch the frame with the wrench you don't have to worry about arching(or grounding out the battery)then connect the negative
INSTALL: pos ( +) first, without a complete circuit the battery will not spark.
REMOVE: neg (-) first to break the circuit.
Great question. The true answer is IT DOESN'T MATTER as long as you are careful when you do it. Don't let anything on the vehicle touch the live wires but the proper terminals on the battery. The order that you attach them in is totally unimportant.
all great answers except for 1 allways postive first the only other thing you want to do is put your new battery on a slow charge before hooking up this will give you maxiume life out of your battery
I would hook up hot lead first.make sure the ignition, lights are off.
Here is a little twist, some of the english bikes have a positive ground
Ground first.
Works for all kinds of bikes.
Those that cannot determine ground should not be working on any vehicle (just my opinion).
+ first~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~learned the hard way, welded the wrench to the frame of the HOG and got burned.
pos first, its only to keep from arcing the pos to frame ground
always connect pos first, connecting neg first will not show you a drain BUT when you connect the pos first if when you connect the neg(key switch and all other acc. off) and there is a spark, there is a drain,
Positive first going in, Negative first coming out.
