i want to start riding again but hav been out of the bike scene for a while just wondering if a yamaha r6 is a good bike and would also like other suggestions
how long is "for a while"? if it has been long enough to have to re-learn riding, then I suggest you get something around 500cc.
Depends.
How long did you ride, how long you stopped riding, and why you stopped riding.
If you stopped riding because a bike scared you, or you froze, you better go small to start again. A Yamaha R6 is for someone with more b*lls than brains usually, and they suck on long runs, as all sport bikes do. I do love running a sport bike in the mountains of Tenessee though!
Why oh why do you need a street legal race bike that will hit speeds of 150 mph?
As another poster stated, check you insurance rates first. Be certain to add additional medical coverage. For a sport bike I would carry an additional $50,000 in coverage.
Here is a suggestion, buy a machine that will allow you to travel for more than a couple of hours before your wrists and lower back are screaming in pain. Take a look at the sport touring machines offered by several of the motorcycle companies. Travel and see our great country. Don't be a squid doing wheelies at 70 mph during rush hour.
from what ive heard no one should start with a 600+ sport bike because it has abilities that we as riders must learn to develop as skill with a smaller and lighter bike first but that bing said i started with a 600 katana but found this info out after the purchase , weight and size should not be a determining factor , a 250-500 should take care of all ur "needs" on a bike until u have developed ur skill and are able to properly use them on a bigger bike , i am attaching one of my source's
my first advice is you need to repeat the 6th grade to improve your spelling
my next advice is go with the Yamaha FZ6 instead of the R6 cause the rate of insurance is half
not a bad choice...
personally, i like the zx6 better
