why get points what will they do for us
You use these points to answer questions. You cant ask more than 20 questions without gaining more points. You get points by answering questions and voting. Think of points as a kind of currency.
To encourage participation and reward great answers. There is no real value on the points. You dont earn cash, prizes or gifts! The points allows you 2 move up to higher levels and get more privileges (ask/answer more questions,voting and rating questions and answers).

as you gain points - you get to answer more - rate more - ask more etc

best answers worth 10 and choosing best answers are worth three. thus, asking a question yields a net loss of two. signing on is worth one point per day. that is about it.
personally, i think a great avatar contributes a lot toward get "best answer." a little humility and a great avatar does it, i think.
oh, and be liberal about awarding stars, too. good for your karma.
