So i started up my bike the other day as usuall. Turned choke on for a bit let it warm up. Well when i hopped on and took off i forgot to turn it off....30 minutes later my bike dies on me and will not start. It made me feel pretty dumb but I can't figure out what would be wrong with it. Leaving the choke on doesn't do any type of damage besides fouling the spark plug. It seems like you would have noticed a difference in performance after the bike warmed up and the choke was still on! A new plug will get you back on the road. FORDGENIE::
Any advice as to what the problem could be or what I may be over looking would be be ignition switch related, if I just turn it slightly sometimes it

the other answers were good. and those guys are more experienced than i. but also, nothing big, it burns more fuel faster. so be make sure you turn it off.

If you lift the little rubber boot theres a plastic nut you can tighten up to to turn the fuel tap off when youre done and consider checking your air/fuel

Usually The Only Big Thing Is That Yhoo Burn More Fuel This Way. So Hopefully Yhoo Haven't Wrecked Ya Bikes Engine!! Otherwise Yhoo May Need A New Piston, Cylinder Linings, Carb Or Fuel Lines!! Or Even A Reed Valve (Is Its 2-Stroke)

Your bike is flooded, take the spark plugs out and clean them. Should not be any damage. Leaving the choke on only wastes gas, and floods the engine.
go buy a spark tester, its cheap at a local parts supplier, if it shows the engine is firing then clean the plugs and go, if not then check the kill switch on the handle bar, you may have turned it off instead of the choke, and yes it is possible to do engine damage due to running too rich ie. the choke left on, it will wash the cylinders down and cause damage but it would take a while
I doubt you did any long term damage but you just need to change your spark plugs and it should start right up. Warm it up and go for a ride to blow out any carbon.
The choke causes your bike to run rich. (More fuel) when cold and as it warms up it don't need the choke. You continued to run rich(choke on) even when warmed up and probably fouled the spark plug or plugs depending how many cyls you have. So to start with I would put new spark plugs in it and it should start. No you didn't hurt it and there should be no damage.............md
No long term damage but you would have noticed a reduction in power due to the wrong fuel/air ratio.
Too rich from your choke isnt going to give you a complete burn of the fuel in the combustion chamber.
like the other answer, remove your plug and plugs inspect and clean off fuel gum residue. Dont use a wire brush!
A soft cloth will suffice.
I would then make sure your fuel is turned off or if your tank is removed crank over your engine with a cloth covering your plug holes to capture some of the unburnt fuel. I would say a fair amount of residual fuel would be trapped in your exhaust as well but hopefully most of this would have evaporated by the time you fire it up.
Dont crank your engine over for more than 10 to 15 secs as your starter motor generates a lot of heat turning your engine. If there is still a lot of fuel. wait 30mins and repeat to allow for your starter to cool down otherwise you will run the risk of damaging it.
If you are happy with what you have seen, check your plug gaps prior to refitting them and try start once you have everything complete.

You flooded it. To much fuel into the venturi and not enough air. Take out the spark plug and turn it over a couple times, dry out the plug with compressed air or just let it air dry, then re-install it and fire your bike up. If it still wont start you might have really damaged it.
Here's a little trick you can try: Temporarily pull the sparkplug wire off of the plug just a little bit so that the spark has to jump from the wire to the plug...this will make the plug's spark hotter and will help it start if the plug is fouled. Just make sure the wire is close enough for the spark to make the jump and after it starts run it for a minute with the choke off then kill it and put the wire back on like it's supposed to be.
