What to Pack in Your Hospital Bag:: Jun 1, 2009 Baby Names, Meanings, and Origins You may want to wear the mesh underwear provided by the hospital since lochia can sometimes be rather http://www.babyzone.com/pregnancy/labor_birth/article/packing-hospital-bagHOME | I know that they provide diapers while you're there and formula if you're bottle feeding. what about clothing? Do they give you a onesie to put on your child or do I need to bring those in my birthing bag? What else should I bring besides the going home outfit and such?
You should bring along with you Baby nail clippers or scratch mittens, baby brush/comb, i believe they give you a cap for the baby's head. I would bring a blanket to put over the carseat to protect the baby from the wind going home. An extra outfit for the baby incase one gets ruined.
Bring baby wipes!! Everytime I have a freind who has a baby, I always take wipes, Im not sure about where you are, but in Canada we are expected to use a wet washcloth in the hospital for the babies dirty diapers.
Considering that the first few diapers are absolutely gross( meconium poops) you should take baby wipes.
You will need an outfit and blankets for bringing baby home, and they wont let you leave unless you have a carseat.
Good luck
They gave my baby a long sleeved onsie and a hat to wear. These are the things they had for the baby:
-onsie
- very thin hat
-diapers
-formula
-got a free diaper bag from similac w/ coupons in it
- wash clothes to wipe babies butt
- cloth diapers for burping
- a bulb to clean out babies nose
- a pacifier
- receiving blankets to wrap baby in
- sample packets of diaper cream Maternity Services at Bethesda North Hospital and Good Samaritan :: When you plan to deliver at a TriHealth hospital, you will meet with an Read the Maternity Resource Guides >; Maternity DVD: Having your baby at Bethesda Learn more about the services provided by TriHealth Lacation Consultants > http://www.trihealth.com/whe/mat/mat_index.aspxHOME | Going home from hospital - Fact Sheets:: Discharge from hospital. - they only gave me like 2 tiny little bottles of formula to take home. I mean tiny!
On the way out the nurse told me in that particular hospital that they throw everything away when we leave so go ahead and take some stuff if we want to. I took like 2 receiving blankets because they were much larger than what you can buy in the store. I also raided the room and found an extra pacifier. I took all the diapers, a couple burp clothes, the diaper cream packets etc. Pretty much everything I could. I didn't go crazy though :)
For myself they had:
-tucks medicated pads (if you run out they won't give you more. You just get 1 jar)
- lots and lots of big pads to wear
- a plastic bottle to hold water that you use to clean yourself with
- about 5 pairs of mesh underwear that come in real handy after giving birth (ask for extras and then take them home for the first few days!)
- big blanket like pads to put under yourself on your bed
- hospital sock slippers
- shampoo if you ask but no conditioner
-soap
-extra food if you ask, like sandwiches etc.
I just wore my hospital gown while there.. I didn't want to accidental mess up one of my own and I didn't feel like getting dressed w/ normal clothes until I went home.
Comfy clothes to go home in. Shoes that you know will fit in case you swell up. My feet and legs were so swollen I couldn't tie my shoes.
Makeup so you can look good for at least a few pictures on the day you go home or something! hehe.
-shampoo
-conditioner
-body wash
-body wash poof
- razors/ shave gel Snagsta | New Baby Shopping List - Hospital:: You get so hungry at odd hours of the night 2. Gown 3. Maternity pads 4. - deodorant
-tooth paste/toothbrush
-gum or breath mints
for baby:
-going home outfit that's right for the season
- receiving blanket or big blanket to put on top of the carseat and cover babies face
- car seat WITH instructions!!! just in case you go to put baby in there and have something set up wrong. They usually aren't legally allowed to help you at the hospital
- diaper bag (even though you might get a free one) to stuff all those extra diapers and things in.
- a cute outfit that you might want babies pictures taken in
-baby nail file (you might need to do it right away. don't clip them)
2 disposable cameras w/ flash... give them to a few people and tell them not to forget to use the flash! I didn't take my good camera because no one else can use it barely and because I have been robbed at the hospital before so I took nothing of great value. I left my rings at home and my wallet. I just brought my i.d. etc.
That's really about it. I don't know how you are but I didn't bring a book to read or puzzles to do etc. I was sleeping when I could and when I was with baby I was too enamored and happy to have this little baby to be thinking about being bored enough to read a book.
Hope all this helps! Good luck.
depends on the hospital. but they do have hospital outfits they put on the babies. and if you use a hospital like i went to for the birth of my daughters, they will keep changing the outfits you bring into their crappy oneies and itll piss you off. my hospital also gave me some of the hospital blankets, hat, and mittens. i also got a diaper bag filled with baby bibs, bottles, coupons, and some Similac. i think that was from the company Similac as a promotion. idk.
you need to bring your own onesie also bring a book or something to read you might be in there about 2 days
I am sure every hospital is slightly different. So it would probably be best to check with yours. You could do this by calling the maternity ward to plan to deliver at, or else you could ask your obgyn doctor, they probably know also.
At my hospital they provided diapers, dry wipes that you had to wet with water first so I was glad I brought my own wipes, I think formula but I breastfeed, a swaddling blanket, a baby hat, a bulb syringe, everything needed to care for the umbilical cord and also petroleum jelly for the diaper if your baby has a circumcision, a long sleeved onesie with the cuff that goes over the hands that they put on right away after birth, they also provided more if you wanted to use them during your stay, a nursing pillow aka boppy, horrible gowns for us to wear, took mine off as soon as I could get out of bed, the had hospital nursing shirts you could wear, multiply sizes of pads, and I think that was about it for my hospital.
Oh, they also sent us home with a thermometer and a baby tooth brush.
they do have clothes there that they put on the baby but if you would rather your baby wear the clothes that you brought then the baby can wear those clothes. you will need socks, soap, shampoo, pads, a robe if you want, pjs, going home outfit for you and the baby, slippers, snacks(hospital food is gross!!!), a pillow, music if you would like, cards, dvds, books, stuff to keep you occupied.
At the hospital I had my son at they give me. Wipes,diapers,blankets(2).a nitted hat for my son and they just put him in a little wrap around t shirt thing. If you are formula feeding they should have nursette bottles on hand. I dunno the exact kind of formula tho. My son was breastfed. Personally I would bring my own wipes. I used huggies sensitive ones until I knew what wouldn't irritate my son's skin. But don't be a idiot like me and if/ when you leave the hospital..If they ask if you want more diapers or they at least offer them to you. I would take them. I didn't bc we had a bunch of packs of diapers at home and I thought that was enough. Well it was if my son couldve fit into that brands size 1's. It ended up they were shaped funny to his little body and I had to exchange them at walmart. I would also take some of those absorbent pads they give you to lay on. Bc that helped save BIG messes when I brought Jeffrey home. There almost as big a receiving blanket and there sometimes peach or blue. I dunno what exactly they are called. But during the whole laboring process they will change these alot for you. Hope this helps
They do not provide clothing for you. They will give the baby a shirt and hat to wear . But that doesn't keep them warm. Honestly.
I brought, clothes for myself and the baby as well a blanket for the baby. Bring something comfortable for you to be in while your there like nice pj pants and socks and they will give you a nursing shirt to breastfeed if that's what you do.As well nursing bra, they will try to get you to breastfeed before formula is provided.
Under-ware is needed, bath rode, your own pillow if that is what you feel will make you comfortable. Prenatal pills.
Other then that your birthing Method. How you would ike to give birth, and alternatives.
Good luck and Congrats!
In the uk we get pretty much nothing! when i gave birth to my son my partner was asked for a nappy a baby grow and stuff to put abby in when he was born!
Afterwards they gave me one pad t o put in my pants after my shower and then thats was it, i just had to sue my own everything!
